April 27, 2021
Dear Parents,
Well, I really am sorry to be writing this letter. We have done so well for quite a while.
The school currently has multiple positive cases and according to the CDPHE guidelines, it is considered an outbreak and we must quarantine for a period of ten days. We are taking every precaution to keep all the students safe and healthy. As a school, we are following state CDPHE guidelines and are in contact with Conejos County Public Health.
We will be quarantining ALL ELEMENTARY STUDENTS IN GRADES PK, K, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, AND 6. Since the PK, 2nd and 5th graders have already been out for a few days, they can hopefully return to school on May 3rd. All other grade levels will hopefully be able to return on May 10th. I will send updates on return dates through the website and facebook.
Because students were exposed, we will be moving into remote learning starting tomorrow April 28, 2021. Please have your child complete the Emergency Remote Learning Packet for tomorrow’s work.
The teachers will be getting materials ready and adding activities to Google Classroom. Students will continue their education through remote learning and Google Classroom. Please have students work on the packet materials and access Google Classroom daily.
Parents may begin picking up materials and iPads on Thursday morning until 2:00 pm. If you are unable to come in during those hours, please let me know and I can deliver.
During this pandemic, we have two major goals. One, to keep your child safe and two, to continue with in-person learning. This is how we do that. By quarantining, we will keep your children safe and they can continue their learning via remote access. We appreciate your support and understanding.
Please feel free to call me with any questions. 719-298-8786 (After hours is fine.)
Sincerely,
Dena Jaminet
Elementary Principal

April 25, 2021
Dear Parents,
I sincerely apologize for the late notice. I know how difficult it can be to make last minute adjustments to the weekly schedules. Today we learned that 2nd and 5th graders were possibly exposed. We are taking every precaution to keep all the students safe and healthy. As a school, we are following state CDPHE guidelines and are in contact with Conejos County Public Health.
We will be quarantining all students in 2nd and 5th grades. Your child can return to school on May 3rd if they have been symptom free throughout the ten days.
Because students were exposed, we will be moving into remote learning starting tomorrow April 26, 2021. The teachers will be getting packets ready tomorrow and adding activities to Google Classroom. We will send iPads and packets home with siblings tomorrow, or parents may pick up the items beginning at 12:00 pm. These students will continue their education through remote learning and Google Classroom. Please have students work on the packet materials and access Google Classroom daily.
Please understand that at this time there is no reason to believe that we have any other exposures of COVID-19 at the school. During this pandemic, we have two major goals. One, to keep your child safe and two, to continue with in-person learning. We appreciate your support and understanding.
Please feel free to call me with any questions. 719-298-8786 (After hours is fine.)
Sincerely,
Dena Jaminet
Elementary Principal

I apologize for the late notice, but The Little Indians Learning Fair is going to be postponed until May 25, 2021. Please call 719-274-5167 or 719-298-8786 if you have questions.

As many of you know, the United States Department of Education granted Colorado Schools a waiver for state testing for the 2020-2021 school year. This waiver allows schools to cut down the amount of required testing and only pertains to Elementary and Jr. High testing. High School testing will continue on as a normal year. Below are the required tests for this year.

**Parents may choose to have their children take both the ELA and Math Assessments by filling out and turning in the included opt-in form. If the form is not returned only the required assessments listed above will be administered.

Or go to YouTube and search for Sanford Events and look for our mascot.

If you want to advertise/donate checks can be made out to Sanford Athletics, and dropped off at the front office.

Fans:
We wanted to offer the opportunity to advertise your business as we stream the basketball games for the rest of high school and junior high basketball seasons. We are also doing this to offset the loss that would normally come in from admission prices.
Prices are:
Green Member $200
Black Member $150
White Member $75
If you want to run an ad email the name of your business and what you want us to read for your advertisement to clarsen@sanfordschools.org. If you do not want to advertise your business and just want to wish the kids look luck, or share a certain message you can do that as well. All donations are greatly appreciated and will be put into the Athletic Budget. Your ad will start running this Tuesday during the Sangre games. Your ad will be played during the J.V. Varsity and Junior High Games. Each level will have a set amount of times your ad will be played. It would be great if you would share this opportunity with any business, folks, or family members you know or are associated with that would like to donate to Sanford Athletics so please share with any and all. Thank You. GO INDIANS!

Attention Sanford Elementary Parents:
If you have not already received one, you will be getting another Emergency Remote Learning Packet today. Please remember to keep these in a safe place in case we have another day in which we need to engage in remote learning. We do not have any days left in the calendar to allocate to snow days, so if we use the day as a remote learning day, we will not have to make it up. Please support your child in completing these packets if we have a remote learning day. Thanks. Dena Jaminet
