Dear Sanford Community,

Sanford School District is excited to announce that we have revised our Athletic Director position from a part-time position to a full-time position with full salary and benefits.

Over the years, the Athletic Director position has required a significant investment of time and commitment. While the responsibilities have continued to grow, the position has remained part-time. After carefully evaluating the needs of our district, we believe it is time to better align the position with the work required to successfully lead our athletic programs.

This change is not a reflection of the outstanding individuals who have previously served as Athletic Director. We sincerely appreciate the dedication and countless hours they invested in supporting our student-athletes, coaches, and community. Rather, this change reflects the district’s commitment to investing in the future of our athletic programs by creating a position that more accurately matches the time, leadership, and responsibilities the role requires.

By converting the position to full-time, the district is not simply increasing compensation; we are creating a position that will provide year-round value to our schools through both athletic leadership and additional district responsibilities during the school day. This approach also allows Sanford School District to remain competitive in recruiting and retaining highly qualified Athletic Directors in an increasingly competitive employment market. We believe attracting exceptional leaders is an investment in our students, coaches, and the future of Mustang athletics.

As a full-time employee, the Athletic Director will continue to oversee all aspects of the district’s athletic program while also serving as a member of our educational team during the school day. In addition to Athletic Director responsibilities, this full-time position will include other assigned district duties that support school operations. These duties may include attendance officer responsibilities, substitute teaching, student supervision, and other administrative or student-support assignments as determined by the Superintendent.

The starting salary for this position will be $44,516, based on the district’s certified salary schedule, and includes the district’s full benefits package.

The position will remain open until filled, allowing the district the flexibility to identify the candidate who is the best fit for Sanford School District and our students.

We believe this investment demonstrates our commitment to providing outstanding opportunities for our student-athletes while ensuring the Athletic Director has the time, resources, and support necessary to be successful. Our goal is to attract an exceptional educational leader who is passionate about developing student-athletes, supporting coaches, and building a positive culture that reflects the values of Sanford School District.

The vacancy notice is attached. We encourage qualified individuals to apply and invite our community to share this opportunity with anyone who may be interested.

Thank you for your continued support of Sanford School District.

Sincerely,

Joe Cary

Superintendent

Sanford School District
