National School Counselor Week

Sanford Schools has amazing counselors.  Kristi Duran is the middle and high school counselor and Talia Guererro is the elementary counselor.

Kristi works a lot with students doing a lot of different jobs. Not only does she help students with emotional or social concerns. She does for the students. She helps them with college applications as well as scholarships. She helps student’s process problems and make plans or take action to improve their life. Kristi said One of my favorite quotes is ‘The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams’ by Eleanor Roosevelt.  I live by this quote in my role as a school counselor. Sometimes students struggle to dream or even believe in themselves. One of the best things about being a counselor is helping students believe in themselves and make their dreams become a reality.  Building relationships is one of the most important aspects to me as a school counselor.

Talia works so well with the elementary students and they love her.She teaches students about friendship, self- management, and social skills. She gives them the skills to navigate the problems and issues that arise in their lives. Talia said “My favorite part of being a school counselor is watching students develop belief in themselves and their abilities. Belief in one’s self is one of the greatest stepping stones to success and I love that as a counselor I am given the opportunity daily to help student’s know how amazing and incredible they are and can be.”

Sanford School is very proud of their counselors and the work they do.  Thank you Kristi Duran and Talia Guererro!
