Volunteer COVID Testing

Dear Sanford Schools Parents:

Thank you for participating in the recent survey options to keep students in school during this pandemic.  The survey indicated that 82% of parents who took the survey would support the volunteer weekly COVID testing option.  The district listened to you and is ready to implement the weekly volunteer COVID testing for students and staff beginning Monday, October 18 at 7:15 a.m. in the Auxiliary Gym.  This volunteer program requires parental consent.  Students who are tested weekly will not need to quarantine if exposed at school during the school day.  The student must test weekly.  This is one of the three options presently given to schools across the state to keep students in school when exposed to COVID at school.  Once again this is a volunteer program.  Your child does not have to be part of the program.  It is strictly voluntary

If you are interested in signing your child up for the weekly testing program, you may do so at the following link:  https://trackbynovir.com/register   You will need to set up a parent account first before adding your child. To register your child in the correct school please use the code C7616 for Elementary School and C7612 for Jr/Sr High School.

The test being used is the BinaxNow rapid test.  When being tested, only the lower part of the nostril is swabbed.  Currently, we have students testing weekly with this same test and are experiencing no discomfort.  Midlakes school created a youtube video to demonstrate the testing.  You can watch that video at the following link:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FYM_duRNwS4

The School District is focused on keeping students in school.  Thank you for expressing your desire to support this option.
