In-Person and Remote Optional for Grades 7-12 For One Week

Sanford School Community,

I apologize for sending this out at such a late notice but I have some important information to share.  It is decided that for this coming week grades 7-12 with have the option to return to in-person learning or remain in remote learning for one week.  This option is only for the week of November 30-December 3.  We feel that this is the best option under the current circumstances.  Our county remains in level orange and current COVID-19 numbers continue to remain high.  Combining that data  with the fact that last week was Thanksgiving and we understand that many families gathered to celebrate and give thanks.  These two facts along with the opportunity for some students to participate in state football championship all led to this decision.  We encourage all healthy students in grades 7-12 who feel they did not get exposed over the Thanksgiving break to return to in-person learning  starting tomorrow.  New guidelines will be implemented soon for schools which make it easier for us to remain in in-person learning with an exposure in the school.  In the meantime, our highly talented teachers will be at school this week to teach students in-person as well as remotely at the same time.  Grades PK-6 will continue with only in-person learning.  I thank you for your support and understanding in this difficult decision.

Sincerely,

Kevin C. Edgar
