Mrs. Mortensen's Fifth Grade

Spring has sprung, and we are all really enjoying the weather.  TCAPs have been completed, and we are anxiously waiting the beginning of our softball games at noon.  Students are sure that the teachers will lose this year at our end of the season tournaments, but Mrs. Mortensen feels differently.
On Thursday, April 26, 2012, the fifth grade class will be holding their annual States' Fair.  Each student chose a state and is busy researching and gathering information.  They will have to complete brochures about their states and fix boards with all the information that they found concerning their states.  Parents, please mark your calendars for this date.
Our pillows have been completed, and the final results have been amazing! Students learned the importance of following instructions.  There were a few students who didn't feel the need to follow their instructions, and, therefore, were forced to take out a few stitches and start over. Way to go fifth graders!
Most students were able to attend at least one trip to Wolf Creek Ski Resort.  We were lucky to have all three ski trips fall on days where the weather was ideal for skiing.  This year we took 3rd graders with us and had close to 70 students each trip.  I would like to thank all parents who helped chaperone our students. We have awesome students who are always willing to help out on these trips!  I look forward to next year's ski season.
