Dear Sanford Schools Community,

I hope this communication finds each of you doing well during this difficult time in our lives.  In response to the rapid changing conditions of the COVID-19 Pandemic, Sanford Schools is prepared to continue your child's education in an alternative manner beginning Tuesday, March 24, 2020 through April 17, 2020.  Beginning Tuesday, March 24 the school will be opened to allow your children to pick up their books, packets, and personal belongings.  This will be done in a safe manner practicing the six foot recommendation of social distancing and in a staggered format to ensure the health and safety of our students.

The following times have been assigned by the first and in some cases, the first two letters of the students last name:

8:00-8:30-----A-B

8:30-9:00-----Ca-Ce

9:00-9:30-----Ch-Cr

9:30-10:00----D

10:00-10:30---E-F

10:30-11:00---G

11:00-11:30---H-J

11:30-12:00---K

12:00-12:30---L

12:30-1:00----Ma-Me

1:00-1:30------Mi-Mu

1:30-2:00------O-Ree

2:00-2:30------Rey-Ru

2:30-3:00------S-Sl

3:00-3:30------Sm-Sz

3:30-4:00------T-Z

Please hold to the above times.  If other arrangements need to be made or if you feel uncomfortable coming into the school, please call the school beginning Monday, March 23.

Sanford Schools Food Services will also be providing sack breakfast/lunch meals to students PK-12 beginning Tuesday March 24.  This will be done much like a drive through service.  Staff will be in front of the school from 7:30-9:00 a.m. to hand the sack breakfast/lunch meal to those students who want to take advantage of this service.

Although educational instruction will not be delivered in the traditional format, we have been accustomed to, it remains important that students continue their academic progress and growth.  For this reason, we are asking that parents continue to support the teachers by ensuring that students are engaged in their assignments.  If possible, please provide a quiet place that students can work.  Many have suggested to continue with a Monday-Thursday schedule for students to complete their assignments during normal school hours.  Establish routines that will assist your child in this endeavor.

Teachers are already reaching out to students and communicating the plan of instruction for the next few weeks.  Credits will continue to be earned for high school students as they complete assignments,  take quizzes and tests, communicate with teachers, and continue to learn.  Although grades PK-8 do not rely on credits for graduation, it is important that they remain on the scheduled path of learning and engaged with their teachers so they are academically prepared for the next grade level.  Sanford Schools realize the great responsibility this places on parents.  Only by working together, can we accomplish this goal.

To assist us in meeting your child's educational and nutritional needs, please complete the survey we have set up to assist us in the days ahead.  Only one member of the household needs to complete the survey.  It is very short and takes only a couple of minutes.  Here is the link:
