Elementary Principal's Message

Elementary_1compressedThanks to staff and parents for your help in preparing your child/children for the state testing (TCAP).  This is a critical check-point for our children.  It helps us as a district to review our curriculum and teaching practices according to the growth our students make in their learning.  We will also be NWEA testing for our end of year benchmark the weeks of May 7th – 17th.  K-3 students will also be given the DIBELS end of year tests.
As springtime is here, there are many additional activities for our students.  The annual 4th – 6th grade noon softball games are underway.  This is a fun and exciting program for these students. Other events on the horizon include:

April 19th—Preschool and Kindergarten Pre-registration
3rd grade fieldtrip to Monte Vista
1st grade parent program at 2:30 in the Jr. High Gym
April 25th—Preschool kite-fly in Alamosa
April 26th—5th grade States Fair during the afternoon in the mini-gym
May 2nd—Hershey Track Meet in Alamosa
May 3rd—"Spring Fling" at 7:00 in the High School gym  (previously the PE
and fine arts festival, but we are combining them for one program)
May 9th—5th grade fishing trip
May 17th—Kindergarten fieldtrip
1st grade fieldtrip
May 21st—Preschool parent program at 11:00 in the Jr. High Gym
Kindergarten graduation at 6:00—kindergarteners released at 11:00
May 22nd—3rd grade fieldtrip
4th grade fieldtrip
May 23rd—5th grade fieldtrip
6th grade fieldtrip
2nd – 4th grade Talent Show at 1:00 in the Jr. High Gym
May 24th—Last day of school:  Elementary Field Day.
