Focus on the Children

Our FCCLA Star Event was “Focus on the Children.” For this event we decided to focus on children’s safety. On January 11th we presented a slideshow to the 3rd and 4th grade classes about different types of safety.  Play it Safe, Stranger Danger, Street Smarts, and Fire Safety were the main topics of our presentation. The children really seemed to enjoy the slideshow and really got into the question and answer part of the presentation. After the presentation, we handed out a coloring page for a coloring contest based on our safety categories.  We picked up the coloring pages, selected the winners, and gave out awards on January 20th.  We will give our presentation at our School’s Health Fair on January 29th. We hope that through our presentations we have helped the children to identify and avoid hazardous situations.
